Diamond in the rough

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Bloodworks Ball NW. If you don’t know who/what Bloodworks is, they are one of the companies where you can donate blood to help save lives. They travel around in buses where you can give! If you haven’t donated YOU SHOULD, you legit are saving lives! Not only does Bloodworks have a blood bank, but they are also researching blood diseases like Hemophilia! Which can be several disorders with the blood. I am one of those who has a bleeding disorder. I have something called Factor V. Factor V is a bleeding disorder in which a person lacks the protein for unclotting. Your blood will naturally clot when you are bleeding to help stop the bleeding, but in my case, I don’t have the protein that will un-clot when necessary. I am way more likely to get a blood clot, which is how I found out that I have Factor V. Anywho, what I am saying is that donating blood can saves thousands of lives and blood banks need more of it! So find your local bloodworks here and donate if you can! https://www.bloodworksnw.org/donate/locations?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIn9qLnoyo4gIVQyCtBh0NEQZFEAAYASABEgKwZvD_BwE

So this ball was so much fun! They raised almost 1 million dollars in a donation for Bloodworks Northwest. If you ever want to feel like you have NO MONEY, attend an event where people are donating! LOL. Now to the fun stuff! I attended and got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS! Now I am not here to toot my own horn, but I want to tell you how I looked like a champagne budget on a water budget!

SALES RACK I repeat SALES RACK! Prom season has hit, and all of the major stores right now have their prom dresses out, and it being the transition to summer there are a lot of dresses that go on sale that are more of the previous season. I found out about this event last minute and was legit shopping for a black tie dress that day. Talk about stressful, and I was sweating while shopping, it was intense! If you have time, I suggest getting your outfit in advanced. LOL. I went to good ole Nordstrom’s and Macy’s. Both had dresses galore, but nothing was sticking out, and everything that I liked was over 200 and let me tell you while planning for a wedding and trying to buy a house a 200-dollar dress that will barely be worn is NOT IN THE BUDGET. Off I went to the sales racks praying that I could find something 1 in my size and 2 reasonably priced. Nordy’s had cute, but more cocktail styled dresses and none in my size. Macy’s, on the other hand, had a ton of formal dresses on sale and not on sale. I searched high and low and found this green one-shoulder dress on their sales rack with an extra 40% off the sales price. Checked the tag and what do you know it was my size!

Now whether you are heading to a black-tie event or prom, you are going to be wearing this dress less than ten times, so why spend hundreds of dollars? I mean don’t get me wrong would I love to be able to drop a few hundo here and there on dresses, you better believe it, but I financially can’t do that. Sales racks are where it is at! You can still find dresses that are regular 230 and get them for 60 as I did! You have to take the time and look there is always a diamond in the rough! (can’t wait to see Aladdin)

Where are the best sales for formal dresses that you have found? I know there are so many other places that have fabulous dresses for an even better price!
