Just keep swimmin

Spring has sprung y’all! The weather here in Seattle has been beautiful lately, and it has been making being back from the Bahamas a bit of a smoother transition from the 80 degrees to 60.  With Spring being here that means summer is next and that means bikini season is back as well and to be honest with ya since Vicotria Secret stopped selling swimmies I have felt it has been so hard to find good ones! Now, I know there are plenty of places to find great bikinis, but the most challenging part is the price. I am working on an educators budget and cant be buying 100+ dollar bikinis; I just can’t. What I am okay with doing is buying 15 (Not pictured) bikinis for under 100!

Let me first explain, that this is not an ad although at the end there is an affiliate link that I could potentially make a commission off of your purchase (very small mind you, but need to let y’all know! ) Again this is just my honest feedback on how I got a bunch of cute bikinis for cheap!

Okay back to where you were asking me to repeat how many bikinis I bought for the trip. Yup, you read it correctly, I said 15. Now for your second question, were they all cute? YUP! All were super cute and fit except for 1, but hey 14/15 is an A so who is still winning?

Let’s get into it! All the bikinis are from Shein, an online store with clothes that are on trend, but for a fraction of the price. Now, typically these websites freak me out because you genuinely don’t know what you are getting until it gets here and then you have the case of “expectation vs. reality” moment. It has taken me a bit to get comfortable spending money on things I can’t try on first, but don’t worry I am REAL comfortable with it now, ask my bank account she’ll tell ya!

This past March, we were lucky enough to have an opportunity to go on a cruise to the Bahamas with Carnival, side note I recommend that if you can or want to DO IT! It was one of the best trips I have ever been on. I met some fantastic people who have become friends forever! It was a blast and can’t wait for the next one we can do.

So, I am from Seattle, where it rains a bit, so bikinis are unfortunately not a year-round attire and so I typically purge my bikinis at the end of the season, I always keep a few just in case, but most are gone at the end of summer. When we booked the trip, I was one excited to go to the Bahamas because I’ve never been, but also because it meant I could shop for cute bikinis! WOOT! That is when I started searching around for places to buy bikinis, and everything I kept finding was super expensive, and not even close to being in my budget for shopping, not that I always stick to that anyway, but I couldn’t spend that much on a bikini. As I was looking for cute outfits, I was on Shein and saw a couple of bikinis that looked cute.

Now, when it comes to Shein, I have had great luck, everything fits, is cute and in my budget. I am also a big review reader. Now, I never really thought reviews were necessary until I started online shopping; they seriously are the best. It is a way to get a glimpse into what you are purchasing before you do!

On Shein, they have probably thousands of bikinis to choose from! This year I wanted to change my bikini style up and try the high-waisted look. Now, in the past, I never really got the whole high-waisted bikini thing, like TAN LINES, but the more I kept seeing other women wearing them, the more my mind was like hmmm maybe they aren’t that bad! As I was searching Shein, they have a huge section of just high waisted ones, so I looked through found a black set ( slimming and my favorite color SCORE) and as I said REVIEWS ARE FRIENDS NOT FOOD and just keep swimming if the item doesn’t have any. This set had over 100 reviews, and off I went into that. Reading each one, finding out if it ran smaller or larger- most of the time when you buy sets from China they run way small so always check, so you don’t get a baby bikini. This one seemed to be TTS, and into the cart, it went along with two others. I figured with each bikini being 11 or so dollars there wasn’t any harm if they turned out to be duds.

Fast forward a week or so later and it was my favorite day of the week, DELIVERY DAY! They were here, and I could finally try them on to see if it was expectation or reality. AND IT WAS EXPECTATION! WOOOT! Now, I ordered a medium in these 3 and definitely could have gotten a small instead. So as any good shopping addict would do I got back on the internet and was fishing and reading reviews for more bikinis, 11 to be exact. Now with a dress and one other non-bikini item, my total was a little over 100 bucks!

Out of the 11 new bikinis, only 1 was a mishap, like I don’t even know what was going on or how something could be that funny looking on LOL. I would say that I was lucky, but I took the time to read reviews and try and buy the bikinis that people took the time to review and give their honest feedback! So, if you do that THANK YOU and keep doing it!

Some of the bikinis I wore like this one pictured, I got so many questions on where it was from and where I got it! Someone even mistook it for a more expensive brand, and I was proud to say that instead of paying 175 I paid 11 and used the other 164 on my outfits (which I failed to document on the cruise (insert facepalm emoji)

Shein is a great website to shop on when you want some on-trend items for at a fraction of the cost. Majority of their bikinis are great and turn out so cute, and when you buy 11 you have unlimited ways to mix and match em’! Now, I am not telling you to go out and buy 15 bikinis, I mean unless you want to, do you then boo, but I am saying that if you want to clean out the old bikinis that you’ve had since college, Shein is a great place to go without breaking the bank!

Shopping doesn’t always need to break the bank, and I know that Shein is not the only affordable website to get cute bikinis, what are your favorites?

For reference, all but 2 bikinis were smalls! 🙂 Happy shopping!
